Ramblings with Rin

A few weeks ago I posted this image from Nobody Knows Marc. I have been itching to try it out, and today was the perfect day. I decided to use neon rope and chain but try experimenting with different materials and colors. This is an easy DIY; I completed it in about 1/2 an hour!
 What You Need:
 {Rope in various colors, chain, jump rings, lobster claws, and hot glue gun}
 Start by tying a over-hand knot
{Tutorial here}
 Braid the rope and chain to the length you want it and tie another over hand knot at the end
 Sew the jump ring at the beginning to the rope for stability
 Glue the leftover pieces at the end to the braid
 Then cut them off
 Add a jump ring to one end with the chain
 Measure around your neck to see how long you want the chain to be and then cut and add a lobster claw
 Finished Product
Hope you enjoyed! I might even make my chain a little shorter for a different look!

Happy Cinco De Mayo! I kind of slacked last night and didn't get around to my DIY project, BUT I thought I would give you a little teaser and then later tonight post how my project actually went. I have dying for some colorful bowls to spread around my house for rings, bracelets, watches, baubles, etc. And after seeing these, I thought they were perfect!

**Note: My nails were in a desperate need of a manicure when I took these pictures.
As you can see from my earlier post, this was taken care of; however, I apologize for my horrid nails.**

What you need {Plastic Lanyard, Split rings, Lobster claw closure, pliers, and patience}

Cut the lanyard so it is two arms lengths {You will need two of these}
The start of the bracelet is the hardest part {This Tutorial is the best one}

The actual knot you will be doing is fairly easy. It's easiest to think of it as a weave.
{Pull tight each time you do the knot. You will continue this until the lanyard is almost used up}
To Finish the bracelet off, create the knot so a second split ring is in the middle of the knot.
Pull tightly and knot the ends.
Using the pliers use a jump ring to add the lobster claw (closure) to the split ring.
Then close.
Try them in all sorts of bright colors.
The lanyard costs $1 at Michael's and comes in a wide range of colors!

My craving for neon accessories has hit an all new high, and I decided it was time to attack my ever-growing DIY list. I first saw this DIY on A Pair and a Spare and have been thinking about it ever since. On Friday, I ran to Michaels for some bright, colored spray paint and then skipped over to Last Chance for some broken watches. This DIY is incredibly simple and cheap, so its perfect for those beginner DIY'ers

What You Need: {Spray paint, a broken watch, and newspaper}
Outside, lay out some newspaper and shake the spray paint can
A few inches away from the watch, evenly spray the spray paint on the watch and let dry. Turn over and repeat the same step. Make sure to get paint in all of the crevasses.

{It will take a couple of coats to completely cover the watch, so let fully dry and then re-coat it}
Now your wrist is full of neon color, perfect for Spring!
