Okay guys! I love posting little stories about some of my new favorite stores. I like to find garments and boutiques that have clothing that I feel embodies my personal style. I really like finding adorable online vintage stores because vintage is a great love of mine. While scouring the lovely world wide web, I happened accross Dear Golden Vintage on Etsy.com. The owner handpicks unique finds that I would truly considered vintage. Most of the pieces range from the 1940's to the 1960's with a few 80's pieces thrown in.

Last night, before I went to bed, I received a notification that Total Recall Vintage was now following me on twitter. Intrigued I went to their website to learn more about this fab duo. Their website, www.totalrecallvintage.com, features handpicked items from the 1980's and early 90's. Christine Bourie and Patrick Delaro created Total Recall Vintage in early 2010 to merge their Miami style with great, unique vintage finds.


They discover fun, "out-there" clothing that most people would walk away from, but they find the beauty. When it comes to their style, they definitely have a point of view! Funny enough, one of their items featured on their website is also a piece in my own closet. The sequined, butterfly shirt is one of my glorious Buffalo Exchange finds. When I stumbled upon it, it was true fate. At first, I tried to get my friend to try it on, but she wouldn't budge, so I headed to the dressing room fully anticipating to hate it. Readers, it is moments like this that make me urge everyone to try everything on. You never know how much you will love something unil you see it on. I fell in ♥ with that shirt that day, and it is one of the most unique garments in my wardrobe.

Alright peeps, I am falling in love all over again with the nautical stipe craze that seems to sweep the fashion world every summer. I think my obsession with this look comes from the fact that, as a child, my mother would always tell me never to wear horizontal stipes because they give me (and everyone who sports them) the illusion that we are larger than we actually are. And while that may be true, I cannot resist the urge to don a blue and white horizontal shirt any chance I get.

Okay people! This website is amazing! Thanks to the lovely world of Twitter (a new found addiction of mine) I came across a tweet by Plumforpolly (follow!), and on her page there was a link to her wonderful website that features items from various brands and designers. I have had some crazy ambitions when it comes to my future, but the one thing that has been and always will be apart of my dreams is owning my own store. In my visual Techniques class, we were asked to brainstorm different store concepts in a group. For once, luck was on my side. Not only was I given a group who had similar likes as me, I was also given a group who had creative ideas. Together, we came up with our store: Badfish. The idea was to infuse our love for music and fashion into one store. We would have records and cds as well as vintage clothing all at an affordable price. Honestly, I think this store has amazing potential especially in a society where art is starting to finally reign supreme. Young adults are being to use music as well as visual arts to express their feelings and fashion is another way of expressing one's self.

Tomorrow, we will be sketching window displays for our stores, and as soon as we are done, I will put up pictures so all of you readers can see what this store will hopefully one day look like.

Dear readers,

A few seconds; that's all it takes. A single moment to realize what you want to do for the rest of your life. It is a rare thing for people to do what makes them happy; sometimes, it is almost impossible. I mean think about it; there are so many other worries in life like food, shelter, money, family, the list goes on. All of that is important, don't get me wrong, but what is the point of our existence if we aren't doing what we love: what in essence makes us happy. My dad has always told me to do what i want and be who i aspire to be. He has never wanted me to be the person who wonders "what if?", nor do I want to be the person who constantly thinks back to that moment. Themoment when I had the chance to do what I love and turned my back. I believe that bitterness blackens the heart, and once that happens, it is impossible to feel joy again. It is this reason that has me finally following my heart. A few months ago I was watching one of my guilty pleasures on Bravo TV: Kell on Earth. This show follows the life of demanding, fashion Public Relations goddess Kelly Cutrone. I don't know why, but that single moment helped me realize what i wanted to do with myself. It is actually how this blog came about. You see, for a long time I thought I had too many dreams. I don't know why, but I only thought that one of these dreams could be my reality, but then I realized that was a ridiculous notion. I mean, why can't I do it all? Why can't I intern at a magazine, and coordinate runway shows, and write fashion articles, and own my own store. It was that moment that I realized that I could do anything and everything in the fashion world and still be happy. So, to all me readers out there who are fashionistas, I implore you to follow your heart. Don't listen to the people who tell you that you can't make it in this industry because they are wrong. Do what you love because that is what will give you the greatest joy.
